Let me start of with a quick explanation of why we weren't at the first round of the BSB Ducati TriOptions Cup at Brands Hatch. Due to the blood clot in my arm taking long to dissolve, testing was late, which meant bike prep was also late. Biggelaar Special Performance did an awesome rush job on the engine, but we still simply were not able to put it all back together before Brands Hatch. The extra time also allowed us (= my dad, who was been amazing so far this year working on the bike at home!) to mount the Rapidbike Evo and have Ruud Fredriks of Tovami perfect the engine mapping. With DCB Autoschade bringing to life my new fairing design, the Ducati 899 was in great shape for round 2 at Oulton Park!
Friday - FP/QP
It was great being back in the paddock and seeing my BSB family again, I felt right back at home even at this unfamiliar track! Our tracktime was limited due to rain, and then qualifying was shortened to 15 minutes.. Just as I started to improve the session was over, meaning I had to start from 31st..
Saturday - Race 1
Weather was perfect, it would be my first time on a dry Oulton Park, and boy did I underestimate this track! You don't realise how tricky it is until you have to navigate the bumpy/hilly/bendy "straights" at full speed. I got arm pump quickly and had to settle in behind Luke Smith. By the end I learnt the track enough to be faster than Smith, but could not pass him due to my arm pump. Mixed feelings at the finish..
Sunday - Warmup/Race 2
A huge thank you goes out to the BSB physio crew, with their help I got minor but consistent and therefore manageable arm pump! Felt great in warm up and I was the only rider improving on my time from Saturdays race. I was ready to redeem myself in race 2, which sadly got moved to Donington Park after many troubles with our starting procedure.. My rematch at Oulton will have to wait another year!
