There was disappointment for Dutch rider Nadieh Schoots in the latest installment of the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship at Oulton Park over the May Bank Holiday weekend, when she narrowly missed out on qualification for the race during what was another weather hit meeting with rain, hail and even sleet at times pounding the Cheshire circuit.
Free Practice and qualifying was blighted by the changeable weather conditions and at the end of a dry first qualifying (the only qualifying session that was dry) Nadieh was just outside the qualifying time by a tiny margin.
Knowing she had lapped quicker during testing at the same circuit just over a week ago, Schoots was hopeful of a faster time in the second session.
These hopes were dashed however as the weather again closed in to badly affect the session. A dry line on a wet track made things extremely tricky and gave her no real chance of any improvement.
Nadieh had lost out on qualification for the race by just one place, and fractions of a second, to place her as first reserve.
And her disappointment was compounded when she lapped quicker in Monday's warm-up session with a time that would have qualified her for the race, a frustrating conclusion to a challenging weekend.
Team ILR owner/manager Ian Lougher:
"Oulton is a difficult circuit to get to grips with, although Nadieh did make inroads over the course of the weekend. But once again changing weather conditions made it more difficult. We took part in the Official BSB test the week before, so I was a little surprised Nadieh couldn't match her times from that, but no doubt after another test at Assen on the teamZX-10, she will be fully up to speed at Brands."
"Oulton was another struggle for me, or at least Day 1 was. My lack of seat time was painfully obvious on Saturday, as it took me too long to adjust to changing conditions, barring me from setting a good time in Q1. I recovered well over the weekend, with a bit of help from Peter Hickman, getting visibly more comfortable and closer to the front guys. This however didn't make a difference, as from Q1 I qualified 41st while there's only 40 spots on the grid. I'm happy Team ILR has agreed to let me take the ZX10 home, allowing me to do some testing before Round 3 at Brands Hatch, where I obviously won't settle for less than making it to the start of the race! A big thank-you to the team for all their help."
